Terms of Service

1. The service

Sports Sim Battles (“SSB,” “we,” “us”) provides a collection of sports simulation strategy games: build a roster (including Snake, Cap, and Wheel drafts), compete in server-side simulated battles across Versus, friendlies, boss, and Showcase Battles modes, and watch play-by-play replays in The Tape Room. The home site at SportsSimBattles.com and the game at play.SportsSimBattles.com are part of the service. Browser play is available now; native mobile store builds may follow. One account is intended to sync across devices when those clients ship.

SSB is not a real-money gambling, fantasy contest for cash prizes, or sportsbook product. Optional purchases unlock access and depth only; they do not buy wins or competitive advantages. The free game does not show third-party banner or interstitial ads.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction and meet any minimum age we require (at least 13). You affirm you are 13+ when creating an account. Guest preview drafts (unsigned exhibition Snake or Wheel; Cap is not offered as a guest path) do not create an account and are unrated exhibitions. Claiming a guest Wheel lineup after signup subjects that roster to these Terms. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it updated.

3. License & acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use SSB for entertainment. You may not:

• Cheat, exploit, reverse engineer, or disrupt sims, matchmaking, or ratings
• Harass others, impersonate, or use abusive handles/display names
• Scrape, spam, or overload our systems
• Use automation or bots except as we expressly allow
• Violate law or third-party rights (including sports league IP misuse)

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. User content & profile

You retain rights to content you submit (e.g. names, and chat or similar messages where those features are available). You grant us a worldwide license to host, display, and operate that content as needed to run SSB. Public or friends-visible profile facets follow your in-game privacy settings. Private AI Autopsy outputs are generated for your account and are not shared as public profile content by default.

5. Simulations & ratings

Battle outcomes are produced by our simulation systems and may include randomness. We do not guarantee specific results. Ratings, ladders, and mode rules may change as we balance the game. A public overview of our simulation approach is at How our sim engines work.

6. SSB+ and payments

Optional SSB+ membership sells depth and access (for example unlimited Showcase and Hardcore Arena runs where capped for free accounts, larger Battlegrounds and SSB Cup lobbies, AI Autopsy feedback on past battles, Private Lobby hosting, early mode access, and flair), not better odds. SSB does not run a soft-currency ticket economy and does not show third-party banner or interstitial ads. Web subscriptions are billed via Stripe under Stripe’s terms. Fees are described at checkout. Unless required by law, fees are non-refundable once the billing period starts. Manage or cancel through the Stripe customer portal or in-product billing links.

7. Third-party services

Auth, hosting, push, email, payments, and error reporting rely on third parties (e.g. Google/Firebase, Stripe, Resend, Sentry). Their terms and privacy policies apply to their processing.

8. Intellectual property

SSB software, branding, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. Athlete names, team marks, and related sports IP belong to their respective owners. We do not use athlete likenesses or headshots. Athlete and team names or abbreviations are used for descriptive simulation entertainment only. No affiliation with or endorsement by any league, team, or rights holder is implied unless stated.

Ref Rumble and Boss Gauntlet opponents are fictional officials created for entertainment. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or portrayals of any real referee, league, or team.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS/DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR SSB+ IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of SSB, your content, or your violation of these Terms or law.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Exclusive venue for disputes is the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, United States, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
