Sports Sim Battles

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 8, 2026

This covers how Sports Sim Battles handles your info. It’s for transparency, not personal legal advice.

1. Who we are

Sports Sim Battles (“SSB,” “we,” “us”) is a multiplayer sports simulation strategy game. You can play in the browser today at play.SportsSimBattles.com; native iOS and Android builds are planned. One account is meant to follow you across web and future native clients. Marketing pages here are mostly static. Share links (/vs/*, /u/*) pull a little public card data from the game API for previews.

Privacy questions and requests: Support@SportsSimBattles.com.

2. Information we collect

  • Account & identity. Firebase Authentication identifiers; email if you sign in with email or Google; display name and @handle you choose; account settings synced to our servers (ceremony intensity, SFX mute preference, light/dark appearance, notify opt-ins, profile privacy knobs, and similar prefs).
  • Gameplay data. Rosters and draft state, queue/battle participation, results, ratings and stats, friends/challenges, cosmetics and SSB+ entitlements when applicable, play-by-play replay artifacts for The Tape Room, optional AI Autopsy / feedback outputs when you use those features, inbox/status records we use for realtime product features, and related server logs needed to run the game.
  • Guest preview (unsigned). If you try an exhibition draft before creating an account (Snake or Wheel; Cap is not offered in the guest funnel), we store an opaque guest identifier, your exhibition roster picks, and a preview grade/podium result. Guest Wheel claim tokens expire at the next daily product reset (04:00 America/New_York). Guest Snake table results are short-lived and are not kept as a long-lived claim after the results flow. No email is collected until you sign up. You must affirm you are 13+ when creating an account.
  • Guest ads (optional). On guest draft pages only, if you choose Allow ads, Google AdSense may process technical data needed to serve non-personalized display ads (for example approximate location/language, page context, and signals used for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and aggregated reporting — not interest-based targeting from your browsing history). If you choose No thanks, we do not load those ad tags. We also store your Allow/No thanks choice in local device storage.
  • Device & session. Device or install identifiers used for session leases and abuse prevention; App Check / integrity signals where enabled; IP and standard request metadata in server logs.
  • Notifications. If you opt in, push tokens (FCM) and/or email for transactional alerts (e.g. match found, result ready).
  • Payments. If you subscribe to SSB+, Stripe processes payment details. We receive subscription and entitlement status, not your full card number.
  • Support. Whatever you send to Support@SportsSimBattles.com.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, secure, and improve the game and home site
  • Matchmaking, simulation orchestration, replays, and anti-abuse
  • Account sync across devices (settings and profile are server-backed)
  • Send opt-in transactional notifications you enable
  • Process SSB+ entitlements, access features (e.g. AI Autopsy), and billing events
  • Comply with law and enforce Terms of Service
  • Show optional non-personalized ads on guest draft pages when you Allow ads (see Cookies)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not run third-party advertising on this home / marketing site, and we do not show ads in signed-in play (free accounts or SSB+). Guest draft pages on the play site may show Google AdSense non-personalized ads only after you choose Allow ads.

4. Sharing

We share with processors only data that help us operate SSB, including:

  • Google Cloud / Firebase (hosting, auth, Firestore realtime, FCM, storage)
  • Google Gemini (generates AI Autopsy text when you use that SSB+ feature; autopsy output stays private to your account)
  • Stripe (SSB+ payments)
  • Resend (transactional email when you opt in)
  • Sentry (error/diagnostics)
  • Google AdSense (non-personalized display ads on guest draft pages of the play site only, and only after you Allow ads). Google’s advertising and privacy terms apply to that processing

Other players may see information you make visible (e.g. @handle, display name, and profile facets you set to public or friends). We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users and the service.

5. Cookies & similar technologies

This home / marketing site does not load third-party advertising or analytics tags.

Guest draft ads (play site only)

On the playable game’s guest draft pages (before you create an account), we may show non-personalized display ads via Google AdSense. Those ads do not use your browsing history for targeting. We ask Allow ads or No thanks before loading ad tags; if you decline, we do not show the ad unit. Signed-in play (free and SSB+) does not show ads. Creating a free account removes guest ads for your authenticated sessions.

Live ad serving is intended for production play hosts; until then the guest UI may show a labeled placeholder when ads are enabled for testing. See also our product decision in ADR-0010.

Essential / functional

Hosting and security layers may set strictly necessary cookies or similar storage (e.g. to deliver the site, mitigate abuse, or remember basic preferences). The playable game may use local device storage for cache and device-only concerns (such as web audio unlock, OS reduce-motion, install-hint dismiss, or guest ad Allow/No thanks), while account settings sync from our servers.

First-party product telemetry

The game API may receive authenticated product events needed to operate and improve SSB (for example matchmaking and client health). That’s us running the game, not an ad pixel.

6. Retention

We keep account and gameplay records while your account is active and as needed for security, dispute resolution, legal obligations, and backups. Guest exhibition data is retained only for the short windows described above. You may request deletion via Support@SportsSimBattles.com; some records may remain in backups or where we must retain them.

7. Your choices

  • Update profile and privacy knobs in the game Settings
  • Turn off push/email notify prefs in Settings
  • Sign out everywhere from Settings
  • On guest draft pages: choose Allow ads or No thanks before any ad tags load. No thanks means we do not show the guest ad unit. Signed-in play never shows those ads. We do not yet offer an in-Settings control to change a prior guest choice; clearing this site’s local storage for play (or using a fresh browser profile) resets the prompt
  • Contact us to access, correct, or delete account data where applicable under U.S. state privacy laws (self-serve account deletion in-product may be added later)

8. Children

SSB is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Guest drafts may be tried before an age affirmation; those pages are not directed at children, and any guest ads are non-personalized and shown only after Allow ads. You must affirm you are 13+ when creating an account. If you believe we have information from a child under 13, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. International users

Servers and processors may be located in the United States. If you access SSB from elsewhere, you understand your information may be processed in the U.S.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the new “Last updated” date here. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
